Scratching a Niche

Niche-ing your content

Many of the most dedicated writers and marketers find themselves stretched to the limit when it comes to content for a voracious website or blog.

And of course, many more companies are trying to figure out why they can’t get their sales up.

So here’s a suggested solution to both of these issues-Scratch your customer’s NICHE (Rhymes with ITCH, though of course I know some of you prefer the French pronounciation of NEESH).

If you find your writing or your sales are flat, why not take a different tack? Why not think about a new marketing persona you might not have targeted specifically yet, and aim for it?

At the very least you will be looking at your material with a fresh eye. At best, you might find some untapped sales channels that will pay off.

Often, all it takes is a little spin, or a tiny tweak.

For example, if you were in the self help market, you could spin a guide on stress relief in the following ways: it could be:

Sure Fire Stress Relief For Busy Executives
Simple Stress Relief for New Moms
Stress Relief for Students
Facing Retirement? 10 Strategies for Simple Stress Relief

Think about their daily life, cares and concerns, just as you would when formulating any other marketing persona. If you have not done any marketing personas yet, that could also be a good reason why your marketing message is falling flat: because you can never aim your message at 100% of the people coming to the site and expect a high conversion rate.

You can only convince people to buy from you if they are reassured that you have the solutions they are seeking. You can really only do that effectively if you know who they are.

Even better, you can take roughly the SAME material, and spin it 4 different ways, without much time or effort. You have already done the work, so now you can repurpose the content.

This is especially handy for time-pressed freelancers and marketers who need to make every word count.

If you are selling product, your customers will be happier because they feel that you ‘get them’. Often times customers complain not because the product is really bad, but because they want to feel that you care, that there are real people behind the product, service, or book.

They are looking for the connection and interaction that in the Internet appears to offer, and so any product or information pack that appears to takes their needs into account is something they are sure to be interested in.

So start today with your own marketing personas. Choose one, set up a separate landing page and PPC campaign, and track your results. If it works, repeat! Look at your main messages, and refine them as needed, depending on what you learn from your new and different approaches.

Scratch their niche, and expand your publishing presence online quickly and easily.

Content for Your Niche

One of the main problems with setting up a website is getting content.

If you are not much of a writer, this can seem like a real nightmare.

Fortunately, there are a number of solutions to this issue whcih are quick and easy.

The first one is to look for existing articles that you can get reprint rights to. There are a number of different ways to do this.

Taking our Bichon Frise Training and Bichon Frise Grooming Tips niches as examples, type those into the search engine, and see what pops up.
Chances are there will be many great articles. Find some really good ones from smaller sites, and ask the authors if you can link to them, or even get permission to share them with others. You can also put them in an iframe, so the content incorporates into your site, but is still separate from it. Make sure you do have the keywords on your portion of the page, and in the metatags as well.

Google is cracking down on iframed sites, but it is a fast way to build an impressive looking site if your mail goal is to sell affiliate products. And a good stop-gap measure until you can get more meaty articles produced yourself one way or the other.

If you can get re-use or re-print permission, use the articles that you find as the basis for your research and write your own, taking the trouble to not only improve what you read, but keyword it using your SEO strategies as well.

There are also places which sell PLR articles, Private Label Rights, allowing you to buy a bunch of articles or special reports for a fraction of what it would cost to produce them yourself (remember, time is money–make sure you are ‘paying yourself’ at the least the minimum wage). Then there are MRR articles, Master Resell Rights.This is a report you can not only use yourself, but sell to other as well.

If you are working as an affiliate, this is not a bad additional stream of income to have.

But the main thing is to get up at least 5 to 10 pages, with an SEO’d article on each, with content that relates directly to the affiliate product you are trying to sell.

Even producing one article a week will give you a month’s worth of content for a blog, for example, each with a link to the product/s you are selling.

You can also hire a freelancer, but that can get expensive and often they will use article writing software for very silly sounding results.

Finally, you could consider going to article banks like ezinearticles.com to fine a wealth of free articles you can use so long as you reproduce the resource box with the author’s information.

Whatever you decide, make sure you keyword the content and the metatags, for the best SEO.

Commonly refers to a specific category you are attempting to market to. Each niche will have its own particular set of related keywords or search terms or phrases (also referred to as the long tail) which you will use to try to get more visitors to your site.

There are many popular niches that have already proven successful moneyspinners.

So while you can expect a fair amount of competition within them, they have already proven that there is money to be made with the right affiliate products. Here are some of the top ones:

There are sites catering to some of the above categories that are already generating thousands of dollars every month.

Know your niche, offer great products, do your job thoroughly when it comes to SEO and keywording, and your traffic and earnings potential could be huge.
